A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
Two more people have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.
A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.
The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
